Walking Billboards

Every day we are walking billboards. Billboards are a place to advertise and show examples of what a company wants to sell, and the image/values it wants to project.
We show examples of what a company wants to portray through the things we wear, drive, and use on a daily basis. For example, today I'm a walking billboard for Urban Pipeline jeans, Redhead shoes, and Faded Glory clothing. When I'm driving around town I'm a billboard for Mazda cars, in the office I'm a billboard for everything Apple and Adobe, and when I walk out of the grocery store with a bag I'm a billboard for Wal-mart. I am a walking advertisement for the values these companies want to portray.
Think of what you're a walking billboard for. Do you wear Nike or Adidas shoes, American Eagle or Hollister clothes? Do you play video games on a X-box or a Wii, or do you shop at Wal-mart, Target, or any other store? We become billboards and advertisements for everything that we wear, use, and go to. Sometimes we are billboards for things that we don't even like!
Even more than the things we use or wear, our actions are a billboard for our friends, families, and the people around us.
1 John 3:18 says, "…let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."
We can say all we want to that we are Christians, but our actions speak louder than our words. I see people every day who say they are Christians, but their actions say that they are not. These people are the ones who give true Christians a bad name. They go to clubs and party, go out and get drunk, or swear like sailors. Nonbelievers see their actions and say, "If that is an example of a Christian, then I want nothing to do with it."
Our actions speak louder than our words. They are like billboards, telling the people around us who we truly are. They will let others know if we are loving people or if we are hurtful. When people see you and the way you act, do they say, "I want to be like that!" or "I want nothing to do with that!"?
When you're out in public or at home by yourself, who are you? Do your actions reflect Jesus? Do they reflect the truth?
I encourage you to live your life as a Billboard advertisement for Jesus and our church by letting your actions prove your Christianity to those around you. By doing this, it will open doors for you to share your faith and invite people to church.
